It's a little known fact East Cowes has a number of nicknames bestowed on the town by its yachting neighbour on the other side of the Medina- I should know, I live there. One of them, Namia, had a sort of delicious irony last Friday night when the Trinity Theatre, Cowes, played host to delightful rendition of the children's classic, The Lion the Witch and
the Wardrobe.
Based on the novel by C. S. Lewis, the first of the Narnia series of books boasted an enthusiastic cast, mostly
consisting of local children, delightful songs, and an air of magic and mystery, which had the youngsters in the audience spellbound for two hours.
For the parents, there were other delights to savour. I had to suppress the urge to laugh out loud at tiny Savanna Kellet's Robin - never has a
small child looked more adorable. As for the four leading actors and actresses, Jack Jenner as Peter, Lizzie Giakoumelos as Susan, George Archer as Edmund and Ava Andrews as Lucy rarely missed a beat.
Ava Andrews in particular showed considerable talent for one so young and promises great things for the future.
All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable
way to spend two hours at the theatre. |
