Communications
Telephones
There are telephones in the the lighting box, the box office, the upstairs bar, the stage manager's
area and by the bar in the clubroom. Picking up any of these and pressing the appropriate button rings
any of the others. They use VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) and are all wired back to a network switch
mounted on the wall above the box office. The computer that runs the system is beside the router, under the
ladder that leads to the lighting box. The system sometimes fails but a reboot usually
cures this.
The software and its operation is covered in this pdf file.
Walkie Talkies

They are kept at the end of the workshop area. There is a charging station for 6 units and another 4 are clipped alongside. These should be rotated to ensure there are always charged units and spares available.
We typically use channel 6 so you will generally find this is pre-selected.
The manual can be found here
Bar Bell
The bar bell sounds in the auditorium bar to warn that the show is about to start.
We usually give three rings, two rings and one ring spread over about 5 minutes after checking with the stage
manager that everything is ready.
The push button is just to the right of the glassless window
Stage Manager's signal
To prompt a cue in a blackout, the stage manager has a call button. It is on a long cable so that hey are not limited in movement. Pressing it alerts the lighting box with a green light and a double beep. There is no need to reset it.
